My name is Shumet Necho, and I hold a BSc degree in Construction Engineering and Management from the University of Gondar, which I completed in 2023. I currently serve as the Chief Technical Officer for the Soil Mechanics and Highway Engineering Laboratory, a role I have held since May 2016. In addition to my technical duties, I actively participate in community service, with a focus on teaching highway laboratory courses to both Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering and Management students.

Before joining JASBEL, Biniam was the Chief Technical Officer/Deputy CEO of Green Scene Energy in Ethiopia, combining deep technical expertise with executive leadership to drive the country's clean energy transition. His career is defined by his ability to transform complex challenges into scalable solutions, from personally leading the execution of over 1 MWp and 1.8 MWh of solar PV infrastructure to advising at the highest levels of national policy.
His groundbreaking work includes spearheading Ethiopia's first national Solar Water Heater feasibility study for commercial buildings and playing a pivotal role in establishing the country's Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) for Induction Motors (ES 6892:2021). These accomplishments underscore his unique ability to translate technical insights into tangible, systemic change.
Biniam holds an MSc in Energy Technology from Addis Ababa University.
