        My name is Agmuasie Belay, an Electrical and Computer Engineering professional with more than seven years of experience as educator, researcher, trainer and mentor. I specialize in machine learning for control systems, IoT applications, and embedded system design. My passion lies in creating impactful, hands-on learning experiences that inspire students and foster their growth in STEM fields.

        With a strong research background, I have published work on neural network-based flux estimation and hybrid sliding mode torque control of induction motors. My work also extends to leveraging machine learning for agricultural applications to maximize crip yields and collaborating on plant disease detection systems using Python and TensorFlow.

        Beyond technical expertise, I am deeply committed to education and training. I have designed aanddelivered life skills, digital skills, employability and job readiness training programs for university staff and students, with a focus on fostering soft skills that are crucia in the evolving job landscape. As a mentor and facilitator, I actively contribute to students' academic and professional development.

        I am currently exploring opportunities to further apply my expertise in machine learning, IoT, and control systems, contributing to research and solutions that address global challenges, particularly in health, sustainable energy, agriculture and community development.

          • Tsegaye Menber Belay

            Hello, I’m Tsegaye Menber Belay, a Lecturer and Researcher in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Gondar. I hold a Master of Science degree in Communication Systems Engineering at Bahir Dar University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialization in Electronic Communication Engineering, acquired from Jimma University in 2020 and 2015, respectively. My research interests are Optical Fiber Dispersion Compensation, Non-Linearity reduction, Fixed and Dynamic Channel Spacing Analyses of WDM/DWDM Systems and microwave waveguide applications. I am also expert in giving training for Optisystem, HPSS, and ATOLL & RUNE software’s for research and practical work. My publication research area includes on dispersion compensation, Non-linearity reduction Self Phase Modulation (SPM), Cross Phase Modulation (XPM) and Four Wave Mixing (FWM) in optical fiber communication.

            • Kassu Ketema Gurmu

              Kassu is a public health professional with more than two decades of experience in clinical medicine, academia, research, program management, and policy development and analysis across the public sector and the United Nations in the areas of capacity building, primary health care, health systems development and strengthening, policy development and analysis, communicable and non-communicable diseases prevention and control, and child health.  

              Currently, he is health systems officer at the World Health Organization Country Office for Ethiopia. In this capacity, he supports the use of evidence in health policy development and health systems strengthening. 

              He has also adjunct academic positions at Jimma University and Addis Continental Institute of Public Health. 

              He has a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Gondar College of Medical Sciences, an MPH from the University of Gondar, and a Ph.D. in the Politics of Health Policy from McMaster University in Canada. He also completed his residency in Pediatrics and Child Health at Addis Ababa University.

                I am a licensed senior anesthetist with a PhD and advanced expertise in health professions education and regulation. I completed both my undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc) studies in Anesthesia at the University of Gondar, College of Medicine and Health Sciences. 

                I am currently working as a project coordinator on a health workforce project implemented by Jhpiego. The project supports improving the quality of Ethiopia’s health workforce education, training, and regulation to promote universal health coverage (UHC). In this regard, I actively lead or contribute technically to different curricula, educational standards, regulatory systems, and strategic document developments. In addition, I provide technical and methodological training using evidence-based and standard education and training approaches. During all these tasks, I demonstrated excellent relationships with stakeholders and partners.

                Before joining my current organization, I dedicated five years to the University of Gondar Teaching Hospital as a full-time faculty member, department head, and clinical anesthesia service provider. Following this, I spent two years in similar roles at Addis Ababa University. Throughout these periods, I consistently demonstrated effective teaching, leadership, and management skills.
